When a genset is running, the mechanical and exhaust noise created may be 95~115dB(A). If we do not take any measure for the noise treatment, it would be an adverse noise pollution to the environment. To observe the local codes and zoning laws and reduce the effects on environment, we must effectively control generator set noise and vibration according to national standard (GB12348-90 and GB12349-90) or equivalent international standards.
With 30 years’ experiences in genset industry, started from date of its establishment, Hop Shing Engineering has been endeavor to provide our customers with one-station solutions including noise control design, noise attenuator manufacturing and installation.
The challenge for mechanical noise control is to balance the noise, ventilation and no power derating. To control the noise from ventilation duct, we shall firstly plan and design the locations of air inlet and outlet, secondly to calculate and engineer the structures and dimensions of acoustic attenuators, and thirdly to make the noise control equipment with environmental protection materials. For some projects with higher standard for noise control, sound-absorbing acoustic foam shall be used as wall or ceiling covering to minimize the noise level.
To control the exhaust noise, we shall ensure that the exhaust back pressure is within the allowable extent, so that the engine could be running in normal conditions. Hop Shing Engineering design and make all types of silencers to meet customers’ variety of applications and requirements. Our standard industrial silencers reduce exhaust noise from 15 to 20 dB(A), and the residential silencers provide an 20 to 35 dB(A) reduction.
